New social cultures appear as humans expand their way of thinking towards the world´s future. There are too numerous cultural groups of people where to choose. I believe that some relevant movements which stand out the most in the society are Steampunk and cyberpunk. Both cultures have a wide mixture of aspects and a very interesting background to discuss. Although Steampunk and cyberpunk might give the impression of being similar as a first look, they diverge in a big sense regarding aspects such as fashion style, origin and music genres related to these socio-cultural groups. The point of this essay is to contrast these aspects in order to create a clearer vision of what these two cultures are.
The first social culture is Steampunk. It differs to other groups mainly because of its bold and old-fashioned style; it goes to the purely Victorian to the raggedy post-apocalyptic way of dressing. Steampunk was originated in the late 1980´s and it was influenced by the 19th century scientific romances of Jules Verne, to mention one example. Moreover, Steampunk includes fiction that takes place in the Industrial revolution in which electricity was not yet widespread, so it emphasizes on steam-or-propelled gadgets. The Steampunk music has two pervasive eras of influence; the gypsy jazz and darker folk music of the 20´s. Musical instruments such as violins, accordions, tubas, banjos, and a bunch of other instruments define the mysterious and vibe attitude of this group.
The second social culture is Cyberpunk. It is famous because of its radioactive-futuristic style. It is defined as fashion scene that represents a combination of industrial, rave, punk and gothic fashion. Themes in Cyberpunk include contrast of black with luminous neon or UV-reactive colors and materials, brightly colored and often stylized hair with extensions or braids using artificial materials. The whole thing of cyberpunks started as a term coined by Bruce Bethke in 1983, it is derived from the terms cybernetics and punk, and it is also recognized because of its ideas of dystopia, government, initiative technology. Regarding the aspect and the esthetic style, musical genres of cyberpunk deal with the vision of the future towards biomedical themes.
Sometimes people tend to classify these two cultures as one. However, they are very different looking upon at more than three or four characteristics. Both cultures Steampunk and Cyberpunk have their own features which stand out in the society. Depending on what the person likes is what he or she will choose. But now and then, none of the groups might be attractive to the public since these groups are not as ordinary as many people are used to see on a daily walking by the street.
Economical benefits do not overcome animal cruelty
In peta organization is being argued that there are many reasons why individuals abuse animals. I consider that the main cause is that those people are desperate for wealth. Animal cruelty is one issue in which we have to think of an optimal solution in order to stop death of thousands of innocent animals. This abuse or mistreating of species in danger is often classified into two categories; active or direct abuse with an economical aim, and passive cruelty. These two types of bad treat cover a wide range of actions, “Each kind of abuse has displayed certain patterns of behavior that we can use to help understand more about this crime” (pet-abuse.com). To know how much we are dealing with this horrible fact; first, we have to identify the most common types of animal cruelty. The fashion industry is quite too responsible of the fur trade in farms. Some other contributors are the hunting activities as well as entertaining activities that involve the killing of animals for fun. I suggest that people should know what is happening behind, and what the saddest consequences of these actions are.
Nowadays, the most ordinary problem is the fur trade. Many people all around the globe are getting more used to wear animal furs. They buy too expensive clothes, shoes and accessories that are made partly or even entirely by fur. These people feel like the more expensive and bolder they clothes look, the better the society will see these people. However, they do not realize how badly they are contributing with the killing of thousands of animals. According to animal cruelty association, approximately 3.5 million furbearing animals such as raccoons, coyotes, bobcats, lynxes, nutria, beavers, muskrats, and some other species are killed each year by trappers in the US. Another shocking look in Chinese fur farms is that many animals are still alive and struggling desperately when workers flip them onto their backs or hang them up by their tales or legs to skin them (animalcruelty.com).
Despite the fur´s attempts, it is estimated that much more animals are killed by people who look for the animal´s meat. Hunting is very common especially in southern and northern states of America. People often get many animals such as dear, bear, moose, wildcats, zebra, rare birds among other types. These animal are trapped to become an ornament or some sort of a trophy that people put on their living rooms or when they got the animal´s head, those are hanged on the wall for everybody to see. According to animal cruelty organization one sad fact is that hunting is permitted in 60% of US wildlife refuges and in many national forests and state parks 45% of hunters do their killings on public lands. It is known that each year thousands of animals like elephants, rhinos, tigers and other endangered species are murdered by robbers to sell in black markets. Some other species are ambushed to be part of many zoos and also to become domestic pets. This is an incorrect action since some of those animals can not survive that easily if they are not surrounded by specific habitats.
Another shocking fact that is related to animal cruelty is the use of animals for entertaining. People pay to go and see the killing of animals for diversion such as bull fighting, dog fighting, roster fighting, among other types. Some people call it culture, some others traditions and it all depends on the country. In Spain, for example bullfighting has become a world wide known tradition, thousands of bulls are killed a year and horses get too injured during this activity. I consider that there should be a reason to kill animals in order to entertain people. There are some other shows in which they show animals and treat them well and these show entertain people avoiding the murder fact. Dog training contests for example, in this activity no one gets damaged and it is very interesting.
To sum up, many people contribute to animal cruelty even when they do not realize it. When you buy a ticket to go to the bullfighting show, when buying too expensive fur clothes of a designer or luxury brands of clothing, when having taxonomy pieces on your house and some other cruel actions that deal with the killing of too many animals. There are more than one reason to avoid murderers continue with their thing, animals are not guilty of they behavior, they do not deserve to be killed in order to satisfy humans ‘needs, I consider that only reason is for getting food, however, there are specific animals and farms that produce them, you do not have to kill species in danger to have a really nice dinner.
